Summary
Who says a vamp can't have it all?
Darcy Newhart thought it was a stroke of genius -- the first-ever reality TV show where mortals vie with vampires for the title of The Sexiest Man on Earth. As the show's director, Darcy's career would be on track again. And she can finally have a life apart from the vampire harem. Okay, so she's still technically dead, but two out of three's not bad. Now she just has to make sure that a mortal doesn't win. If only she wasn't so distracted by a super-sexy and live contestant named Austin...
But Darcy doesn't know the worst of it. Austin Erickson is actually a vampire slayer! And he's got his eye on the show's leggy blond director. Only problem is, he's never wanted any woman -- living or dead -- as badly. But if he wins her heart, will he lose his soul? And if it means an eternity of hot, passionate loving with Darcy, does that really matter anyway?

REVIEW
This is the second book in the Love at Stake series, and although I enjoyed aspects of it, in comparison to the first book, it was missing a little something.
If I'm honest, I was already slightly put off by the premise of the reality game show concept. But having thought similar things about the broken fang in the first book, I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Unlike book one however, where the fang thing was just the "hook" to get your attention followed by a decent plot, this time the goofy plot took up the entire book. And that was all there was to it really- A girl vamp TV producer and an undercover boy vamp slayer. They can't be together but they want to be. There was no mystery, no bad guy, no action, nothing. When I think of all the explosions and stuff in the first story, I'm kind of baffled as to why this was all missing this time.
That's not to say I didn't enjoy any of it though. The game show scenario provided many amusing moments. I particularly enjoyed contestant Otto wis his big muscles, yah! You vant to touch Otto's big bulges too don't you! He was great, as were many of the others including the ex-harem ladies from the first book. They are the reason for the game show, having been kicked out now that Roman has his new wife Shanna, they needed to find a new master to take care of them- hence the reality show idea.
The romance was quite good as well, although, again, not as good as the first book. There was a bit of drama caused by their conflict of interests as you might expect, and this was well written.
Basically this one just about kept my interest but I'm hoping for a lot more action and suspense in the next one.
